Sumedha Vaidya — our Art Therapist — believes that healing emerges through the process of creation, where art becomes a safe space for emotions, memories, and inner growth.
Sumedha holds a Master’s degree in Art Therapy from MIT–ADT University, Pune — India’s first Master’s program in Art Therapy developed with guidance from the American Art Therapy Association. Her training includes 700 hours of clinical internship working with children with special needs and cancer patients in palliative care coping with trauma and end-of-life experiences.
Sumedha’s master’s research developed an art therapy curriculum for children with special needs. She creates expressive, sensory-engaging activities that support emotional processing, communication, and developmental growth.
While working with different populations, she has gained strong clinical experience through the following areas of practice
Cancer Patients & Palliative Care:
She supports cancer patients, caregivers, and families through trauma-focused creative interventions that foster emotional release, resilience, and compassionate coping.
Women Facing Emotional Distress:
Sumedha helps women experiencing loss of self-worth, emptiness, or emotional breakdown reconnect with identity and inner strength using therapeutic art processes.
Students & Working Professionals:
Her work with students and professionals addresses anxiety, exam/work stress, and burnout—teaching emotion regulation, reflective practices, and creative stress-relief techniques.
Geriatric Population:
She offers mindful, art-based self-care and communication exercises to older adults facing loneliness or withdrawal, creating safe spaces for expression, connection, and dignity.
With over 20 years as an art director in creative advertising, Sumedha’s deep knowledge of Colour theory and symbolism in visual storytelling enriches her interpretation of non-verbal expression and helps her design personalized creative interventions. She integrates mindfulness-based art practices and traditional contemplative approaches to support emotional balance and self-awareness.
